The distance between Bratislava and Budapest is approximately 200km. The most convenient mean of transport is train, yet regular buses shuttle between the two cities, too. No regular boat service operates on the route.
Following guide tries to provide the most accurate information to make it easier for you to choose between train and bus. Following tables illustrate the easiest way to get from one city center to another, or from airport to airport. You can also decide based on parameters like comfort of travel, duration, frequency etc. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask below.
It is only up to you, which mean of transport would you prefer, but the table below should help you making a good decision.

Duration: Train and bus lasts approximately 2.5 hours.
Comfort: Trains are generally more comfortable when it comes to stretching legs. First class in trains and buses is available. Buses have WiFi on board.
Price: One-way bus ticket costs around 10€ and is the cheapest solution in this case.
Sightseeing: If you are looking for nice views and an extraordinary experience, do not expect anything like that with bus or train travel.
Variability: There are only two points directly connected between the cities: both train stations and both main bus stations. No other stops are inside the city.

Hi marvic bartolo,
that differs: trains are always for the same price and departs every few hours, you can check it here. On the other hand the price for buses may differ, for example they might be cheaper early in the morning you can check the timetables & also buy the tickets directly at our site here https://bratislava-slovakia.eu/travel/budapest-bratislava/bratislava-budapest-bus . That being said, both options are roughly equal, though buses are bit cheaper on average.
Have a nice trip!

Hi vali,
I'm afraid not. At the moment, the water level is so low, that Hydrofoil do not operate at all. I think there is only a little chance it will do so later this month.

Hi Ludmi,
this site says it's 11euros, I believe it's a little bit more (but not much). It's a pity you can't check this online.
