There is a direct train connection between both cities. It takes around 5 to 6 hours to get from one central station to another, depending on a train type you take. The distance between both cities is 445km.
New rail operator arrived to Slovakia in the beginning of 2015 bringing more comfortable way of travel. You can find connections at Official RegioJet website [ENG]. If timetable suits you, we would recommend using this service.

Slovak nation railway company also connects Bratislava with Kosice, however, the quality of trains and service is far beyond RegioJet. You can buy tickets on the Internet using the Official Slovak Rail page [ENG] where you can look up a connection between Bratislava hl. st. and Košice for a specific date. The list of possible train connections will appear with two different train types:
You can buy a ticket for IC trains with seat reservation. It is possible to pay using a card. Tickets for regular trains can be bought only at the station.

Student with valid student card | IC: 13.90€ / R: 8.90€ |

Hi everybody!
If I come to rhe Kosice station in the morning, will I find any free places in the overnight train? How busy they are?
I'm from Ukraine, and, unfortunately, I can't buy the ticket via internet.

Hi Serhii,
there's a very good chance you will get your ticket. It's Monday and most people commute on the Sunday.

hi, does the train from Bratislava to Kosice pass through Zvolen? thanks

Hi zooey,
yes and no. Depends on what kind of train do you choose. Intercity train (which cover that distance in 5 hours) does not stop in Zvolen. However, normal train (7 hours to get to Kosice) stops in Zvolen.
Regards
